The National Overdose Response Service (NORS) is a virtual safe consumption site available for all Canadians, 24/7 * 365. Our service is 100% confidential, anonymous and judgement free. Our only priority is to keep you safe while you use drugs. Once connected to the NORS line you will be greeted by a real person. That person will ask you to provide a code. NORS is an anonymous service so your code will be the first two initials of your first name, the first two initials of your last name and the last two digits of your year of birth. You will co-create your safety plan with your NORS operator. Safety plans can include a community response (someone you trust nearby with Naloxone) or an EMS dispatch in an adverse event while you are using drugs. Your operator will ask you which substances you are using, how much and your route of administration. This enables them to be able to react in a timely manner incase of overdose. Your operator will stay with you for an average of 20 - 35 minutes to be sure you are not having an adverse reaction to your substances. Your operator will destroy any personal information you have provided to ensure your safety such as your address ( for an EMS dispatch) or your phone number ( for a call back if you are using texting services).
